Any of a genus of six hardy, evergreen coniferous trees closely related to and often included in the genus Cupressus in family Cupressaceae. They are chiefly found in North America and East Asia. All are valuable timber and ornamental trees. They have flat, fern-shaped, scale-like leaves.

Lawsons's Cypress C. lawsoniana can grow to 50 m/200 ft; it is very variable with over 250 distinctive cultivars.
