Reuter, Rolf (1927– )

German conductor. After appointments at Eisenach and Meinigen he was music director at the Leipzig Opera 1961–73. He conducted the Ring at the Paris Opéra in 1978 and was music director of the Komische Oper, Berlin from 1981, visiting Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London with the company 1989, in The Bartered Bride. He conducted Le nozze di Figaro with the New Israel Opera in 1992 and the premieres of Guayana Johnny by Alan Bush (1966) and Judith by Siegfried Matthus (1985).
