Revel, Bernard

Revel, Bernard (1855–1940)

US rabbi and educator born in Lithuania. He became the head of the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Yeshiva in New York in 1915, and in 1928 he helped found Yeshiva College, the first Jewish liberal arts institution. He was influential in the modern Orthodox movement.

Born in Pren, he went to the USA in 1906 and earned an MA from New York University and a PhD from Dropsie College, Philadelphia.
