revue

Stage presentation involving short satirical and topical items in the form of songs, sketches, and monologues; it originated in the late 19th century.

Turn-of-the-century revues were spectacular entertainments, notably those of Florenz Ziegfeld, but the ‘intimate revue’ became increasingly popular, employing writers such as Noël Coward.
