Rex cat

Two breeds of domestic cat with short, curly coats. The Cornish Rex was bred in 1950 in Cornwall, England. It has a wedge-shaped head, large ears, slender body with a naturally arched back, and very long legs. The Devon Rex, bred since 1966 in Devon, has a shorter wedge-shaped head than the Cornish, more pronounced cheekbones, and has less curl in its fur. The body is muscular and broad-chested. Apart from bicoloured, all coat colours and patterns are recognized.

It derives its name from the Rex curly-haired mutation in rabbits. Rex cats were recognized in Britain 1967.
