Reynolds, Anna (1928– )

English mezzo-soprano. Her early operatic career, from 1958, was confined largely to Italy: she sang Tancredi, Donizetti's Elizabeth I, and Charlotte in Rome, Venice, and Milan. She was successful in Wagner roles and sang at Bayreuth 1970–76 and in Karajan's Ring cycles at Salzburg and at the Metropolitan Opera House, New York as Fricka and Waltraute. As a concert singer she appeared with Giulini, Barbirolli, and Abbado. Her many recordings included Bach's cantatas. Later he was a teacher of singing.
