Reynolds, Anna (1928- )

English mezzo-soprano. Her early operatic career, from 1958, was confined largely to Italy: she sang Tancredi, Donizetti's Elizabeth I, and Charlotte in Rome, Venice, and Milan. She was successful in Wagner roles and sang at Bayreuth 1970-76 and in Karajan's Ring cycles at Salzburg and at the Metropolitan Opera House, New York as Fricka and Waltraute. As a concert singer she appeared with Giulini, Barbirolli, and Abbado. Her many recordings included Bach's cantatas. Later he was a teacher of singing.
