Reynolds, Roger (1934- )

US composer. His music makes use of electronics, synthesized sounds, and graphic notation. He won a Pulitzer Prize in 1989 for Whispers out of Time.

He studied at the University of Michigan, founded avant-garde festivals there, and was director of the Center for Music Experiment at San Diego, California, 1971-77.

Stage

The Emperor of Ice Cream (1962), A Ritual for 23 Performers (1971), and incidental music for The Tempest (1980).

Orchestral and chamber

Graffiti (1964), and Threshold (1967) for orchestra; Between for chamber orchestra and electronics (1968); Archipelago for chamber orchestra and computer (1982); Whispers out of Time for string orchestra (1988); chamber and vocal music.
