Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini

Work by Sergei Rachmaninov for piano and orchestra. The work is actually a set of variations, composed in 1934 and first performed in Baltimore on 7 November 1934. The piece is frequently referred to as the Paganini Rhapsody or Paganini Variations.

The theme, in A minor, from the 19th-century virtuoso violinist Niccolò Paganini's capricci (studies) for unaccompanied violin, is the same as that used by Johannes Brahms and Witold Lutosłaski for their respective Paganini Variations.
