Rhayader

Rhayader

Town in Powys, central Wales, situated on the River Wye, about 10 km/6 mi northwest of Llandrindod Wells; population (2001) 2,100. It is a centre for the sale of sheep and general farm produce. The Gilfach Nature Reserve and the Elan Valley Visitor Centre are in the locality.

In the nearby hills are the large reservoirs which supply Birmingham with water (see Elan). The area is also a centre for mountain biking.
