Rhenanus, Beatus (1485-1547)

German humanist. He studied in Paris, France, and Basel, Switzerland, where he began a lifelong friendship with Erasmus. He wrote Rerum Germanicarum libri iii (1531), and edited the works of Erasmus (1540-41). He also edited works by Pliny and Tacitus. Rhenanus was born in Reinach, Germany.
