Ruthin, Clwyd, Wales. The town is noted for its fine half-timbered houses. It is the administrative centre of Denbighshire.

Town and administrative centre of Denbighshire, northeast Wales, 12 km/7 mi south of Denbigh; population (2001) 5,200. The ‘Red Castle’, from which it takes its name, was built about 1280; the present structure was erected in the 19th century on the same site. Ruthin has an attractive market square with half-timbered buildings.
