Richardson, Marilyn (1936– )

Australian soprano. She studied in Sydney and made her debut there in 1958, in Schoenberg's Pierrot Lunaire. She made her opera debut at Basel in 1972, as Lulu and from 1975 sang with Australian Opera as Salome, Aïda, the Marschallin, Desdemona, Eva, Leonore, Isolde (1990), and Tosca (1992). She has made appearances with regional Australian companies as Fiordiligi, Violetta, Butterfly, Senta, Alcina, and Cleopatra and has premiered about 400 works by Australian composers.
