Ricordi (lived 18th-20th centuries)

Family of Italian music publishers. Giovanni Ricordi (1785-1853) founded the publishing house at Milan in c. 1808.

His son, Tito Ricordi (1811-1888) succeeded his father on the latter's death in 1853, and was responsible for the publication of many of Giuseppe Verdi's operas.

On his death his son, Giulio Ricordi (1840-1912) became head of the firm. He was also a composer under his own name and that of J Burgmein.
