Ridgefield

Town in Fairfield County, southwest Connecticut; population (1990) 20,900. It is situated on the New York state line, 19 km/12 mi north-northwest of Norwalk. It is an affluent suburb with many Colonial homes. A battle was fought here on 27 April 1777 between British forces led by William Tryon and Colonists trying to block their retreat from Danbury.

Ridgefield

Town in Bergen County, northeast New Jersey; population (1990) 10,000. It is located 13 km/8 mi northeast of Jersey City, on the Palisades of the Hudson River. It is a residential suburb with a variety of corporate headquarters and small industries.
