Rigacci, Bruno (1921- )

Italian conductor. He founded the Chamber Orchestra of Florence and conducted at the Royal Opera, Stockholm. Musical director of the Philadelphia Music Theatre from 1974 and principal conductor of San Diego Opera 1980-84, he later led Thomas' Hamlet there. He returned to Italy to conduct opera at Lugo (from 1987) and at the Barga Festival; La Bohème and Lucia di Lammermoor at Florence; and Rossi's Orfeo at La Scala, Milan. He has also conducted Semiramide at the Bilbao Festival. His recordings include rare repertory by Donizetti.
