rigaudon

Lively French country dance in two time, in four-bar phrases (like a square dance), the music for which was revived by Edvard Grieg in the Holberg Suite in 1884. The dance dates to the 17th century at the latest, and is thought to be derived from the French south (Provence or Languedoc).
