Rimouski

Town in Rimouski-Neigette County, southeast Québec, Canada; population (1991) 30,900. It is located 310 km/190 mi northeast of Québec City, on the south shore of the St Lawrence River. With a deepwater port, it is a transport, service, and educational centre for the region. Local industries process foods, lumber, and pulpwood, and make mattresses, carpeting, leather, and shoes.
