Ristori, Giovanni Alberto (1692–1753)

Italian composer. He wrote opera and choral works. He was director of the Polish chapel in Dresden in 1718, and became vice-kapellmeister to the court, under Hasse, in 1750.

His first opera was produced in Venice in 1713, but two years later he moved to Dresden with his father, director of an Italian theatrical company. Ristori himself became music director of the company in 1717.

around 20, including Calandro (1726), Don Chisciotte (1727), Le fate (1736), Didone (produced Covent Garden, 1737), Temistocle (1738), I lamenti di Orfeo (1749).

Choral

3 oratorios; 15 cantatas; 15 Masses, 3 Requiems, motets and other church music.
