Rita

Opera in one act by Gaetano Donizetti (libretto by G Vaez). Composed in 1841, it was first performed (posthumous) at the Opéra-Comique, Paris, on 7 May 1860. In the story, Rita dominates her weak husband Peppe until ex-husband Gaspar arrives and shows Peppe how to stand up to her.
