Ritchie, Albert (Cabell) (1876-1936)

US state governor. As assistant counsel to the Public Service Commission 1910-15 he won utility rate reductions, and was Maryland's attorney general 1915-19. As Democratic governor 1919-34, he improved health and education services in the state while reducing taxes. He campaigned against national prohibition laws.

He was born in Richmond, Virginia, and was a successful Baltimore lawyer.
