Carron

Village in Falkirk unitary authority, Scotland, on the River Carron, now a northern suburb of Falkirk; population (2001) 5,400. Its ironworks, originally founded in 1759, produces cast-iron goods, including intricate and specialized castings.

The ironworks manufactured carronades (a ship's short-calibred gun) and other guns until 1852, when they were superseded by more modern armaments.
