Roar, Leif (1931- )

Danish baritone. He sang in Kiel and Düsseldorf from 1967; at Munich from 1971, as Wotan and Jochanaan; at the Salzburg Easter Festival 1973-74, as Wagner's Donner and Kurwenal under Karajan; at Bayreuth from 1976, as Telramund and Klingsor; and at Arhus, Denmark in 1987, as Wotan. He made his debut at the Metropolitan Opera House, New York in 1982, as Pizarro in Fidelio. Other roles include Hans Sachs (at Stockholm), Don Giovanni, Hindemith's Mathis, and Scarpia.
