Burke, Robert O'Hara (1821-1861)Irish-born Australian explorer who in 1860-61 made the first south-north crossing of Australia (from Victoria to the Gulf of Carpentaria), with William Wills (1834-1861). Both died on the return journey, and only one of their party survived.
