Robert of Newminster, St (died 1159)

English Cistercian abbot. He became a Benedictine at Whitby, North Yorkshire, but later went to Fountains Abbey where the stricter Cistercian rule was being followed. Newminster Abbey was founded from Fountains in 1137, with Robert as its first abbot.
