Roberti, Ercole d'Antonio de

    0.02 sec.

Roberti, Ercole d'Antonio de (1450–1496)

Italian painter. He was active in Ferrara, and worked for the Este court. Principal works include a Pietà (Walker Gallery, Liverpool), two scenes from the Passion (Gemäldegalerie Alter Meister, Dresden), and The Israelites Gathering Manna (National Gallery, London).

He was probably a pupil of Francesco Cossa, with whom he may have worked in Bologna, and he was influenced by Cosimo Tura and also by Jacopo Bellini. Another remarkable work is an altarpiece of 1480 (Brera, Milan).
