Robertson, MacPherson (1860–1945)

Australian philanthropist. As founder of the Australian confectionery firm which bears his name, he became famous for the public-spirited use which he made of his wealth. In 1923 he gave a large sum for the relief of suffering in the Japanese earthquake, and another towards the expenses of the Australian Antarctic Expedition of 1929–30; MacRobertson Land in Antarctica commemorates his name.
