Robey, George.

    0.10 sec.

Robey, George. (1869–1954)

English music-hall comedian. He came to fame in 1891 with his comic interpretation of the song ‘The Simple Dimple’. He took part in many revues and films and had some success as a serious actor, notably as Falstaff in Shakespeare's Henry IV in 1935. He was knighted in 1954.

In his early days he was extremely acrobatic, especially in his parody of Lottie Collins in ‘Ta-Ra-Ra-Boom-De-Ay!’.
