Robinson, Abraham

Robinson, Abraham (1918–1974)

German-born US logician and mathematician. He discovered nonstandard analysis, and he is known for work in algebra and model theory.

He was born in Waldenburg (now Walbrzych, Poland). Fleeing Nazism, he worked with the British during World War II on aerodynamics. This study led him to Princeton 1960–61. He taught at the University of California, Los Angeles 1962–67 and Yale 1967–73.
