Robson, Christopher (1953– )

Scottish counter-tenor. After study at the Trinity Colege of Muisc, London and with Paul Esswood, he made his London concert debut in 1976, in Handel's Samson and his opera debut in Birmingham in 1979, as Argones in Sosarme. He was a member of the Monteverdi Choir 1974–84 and created Glass's Akhnaten at Houston and New York in 1984. Other Handel roles include Ptolemy in Giulio Cesare (Scottish Opera); Arsamenes in Xerxes; Polinesso in Ariodante (for the English National Opera ensemble); and Tamerlane for Opera North. He has given many concert performances of music by Handel, Monteverdi, and Purcell.
