Rochambeau, Jean-Baptiste-Donatien de Vimeur (1725–1807)

French general who helped defeat British forces under Lord Cornwallis at Yorktown, Virginia, in 1781 during the American Revolution.

His troops joined American forces led by George Washington at White Plains, New York. With the support of French naval forces under the Comte de Grasse, the combined forces defeated the British at Yorktown, where forces under the Marquis de Lafayette were already advancing on them.
