Rochdale Canal

Rochdale Canal

Canal running from Sowerby Bridge in West Yorkshire, England, to the Bridgewater Canal in Manchester. Opened in 1804, it uses the lowest pass through the Pennines. Its banks are lined with factories, many of them in ruins; it is now closed to navigation.
