Rock County

County in south Wisconsin; area 1,873 sq km/723 sq mi; population (1990) 139,500. It is bordered to the south by the state of Illinois. Its administrative headquarters is Janesville. It is bisected by the Rock River. A fertile agricultural area, it produces tobacco, dairy items, livestock, and poultry. There is diverse manufacturing at Beloit in the south, and at Janesville in the centre of the county.
