Rockenbach, Samuel Dickerson (1869–1952)

US soldier. As chief of the Tank Corps, American Expeditionary Force in France 1917–19, he became a pioneer of armoured warfare.

He was born in Lynchburg, Virginia, the son of a Confederate army officer. He graduated from the Virginia Military Institute in 1890 and served in the cavalry.
