terrestrial planet

Any of the four small, rocky inner planets of the Solar System: Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars. The Moon is sometimes also included, although it is a satellite of the Earth and not strictly a planet.

Earth is constantly being bombarded by smaller debris from comets, asteroids, and even other rocky planets in the solar system.
But 28 are so-called "super-Earths" with masses 20 times the size of Earth or less, and are thus probably rocky planets, the ESO said in a press release.
Viewingwhite dwarfs with such instruments may tell astronomers whether rocky planets orbiting other stars all resemble Earth or come in diverse varieties.
