Rodolphe, Jean Joseph (1730–1812)

French horn player, violinist, and composer. He studied horn and violin with his father, and from 1746 violin with Leclair in Paris. In 1754 he travelled to Parma, in 1761 to Stuttgart, and in 1767 back to Paris. He studied composition under Traetta and Jommelli. In later years he taught, from 1798 at the Paris Conservatory.

Works

operas Le Mariage par capitulation (1764), L'Aveugle de Palmyre (1767) and Isménor (1773); ballets; horn concertos; violin duets; horn pieces.
