Roeg, Nicolas

    0.02 sec.

Roeg, Nicolas (Jack) (1928– )

English film director and writer. He was initially a cinematographer. His striking visual style is often combined with fractured, disturbing plots, as in Performance (1970), Don't Look Now (1973), The Man Who Fell to Earth (1976), and The Witches (1989). In the 1990s he directed Cold Heaven (1992), Two Deaths (1995), Hotel Paradise (1995), and the television features Heart of Darkness (1994), Full Body Massage (1995), and Samson and Delilah (1996).

When he made his directorial debut, Roeg had already worked extensively in British cinema as a cinematographer on such films as The Masque of the Red Death (1964), François Truffaut's Fahrenheit 451 (1966), and Far From the Madding Crowd (1967). His critical reputation rests mainly on his early films as director.
