Roger-Ducasse, Jean (Jules Aimable) (1873–1954)

French composer. He was appointed inspector of singing in the Paris city schools in 1909 and succeeded Paul Dukas as composition professor at the Paris Conservatory in 1935.

He studied at the Paris Conservatory, where he was a composition pupil of Fauré.

Choral with orchestra

Au Jardin de Marguerite (1905) and Ulysse et les Sirènes for voices and orchestra; motets and secular vocal works, including Sur quelques vers de Virgile and Madrigal sur des vers de Molière. Le joli jeu de furet, Prélude d'un ballet, Nocturne de printemps (1920), Epithalame, Poème symphonique sur le nom de Fauré; Variations plaisantes for harp and orchestra.
