Rogers, John, Jr (1829-1904)

US sculptor who was known for the mass production of his narrative figural works in plaster, such as The Fugitive's Story 1869.

He was born in Salem, Massachusetts. He began as a machinist, draftsman, and railway mechanic in the Northeast and in Missouri. After study in Paris and Rome 1858-59, he established himself in New York City, and by 1877 lived in New Canaan, Connecticut.
