Roget, Peter Mark (1779–1869)

English physician and scholar, one of the founders of the University of London, and author of a Thesaurus of English Words and Phrases (1852), a text constantly revised and still in print, offering a range of words classified according to underlying concepts and meanings, as an aid to more effective expression and communication.

1792: 'La Marseillaise' was composed by Claude- Joseph Roget de Lisle.
95 Hardcover CT788 Peter Mark Roget (1779-1869) was a "physician, physiology expert, mathematician, writer, editor, and chess whiz" according to his biographer, freelance journalist Kendall.
He had investigated claims that a spectacle maker called Roget had invented the first telescope.
