Rogosin, Lionel

Rogosin, Lionel (1924– )

US documentary producer and film director. He made a highly acclaimed documentary On the Bowery (1956), and then gained further acclaim for Come Back Africa (1959), filmed in South Africa with a concealed camera.

He was born in New York. He promoted avant-garde films through showings at the theatre he owned, the Bleecker Street Cinema in New York City.
