Roi malgré lui, Le

Opera by Emmanuel Chabrier (libretto by E de Najac and P Burani, based on a comedy by Jacques Ancelot), produced at the Opéra-Comique, Paris, on 18 May 1887. In the story, King Henri of Poland faces a conspiracy to remove him from the throne, led by Count Laski. At Laski's ball the King attends in disguise, escaping detection. King Henri returns to the throne after the plot fails.
