Rolón, José (1883-1945)

Mexican composer. He studied with his father and later with Moszkowski in Paris, where he came under the influence of the modern school. He returned to Mexico 1907 and founded a music school at Guadalajara, but at the age of 44 he returned to Paris to study with Dukas and Nadia Boulanger.

Works

symphony, ballet, El festin de los enanos (1925), Scherzo sinfónico, Baile Michoacana, Zapotlán, Cuauhtémoc for orchestra; piano concerto (1935).
