Rolland, Sophie (1963- )

Canadian cellist. She studied with Pierre Fournier in Geneva and William Pleeth in London and made her debut with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra in 1982, under Charles Dutoit. She has made regular concerto appearances throughout Europe and the USA. IN 1993 she undertook a Beethoven Sonata series at the Carnegie Hall and at London's Wigmore Hall with pianist Marc-André Hamelin. She frequently performs in chamber music concerts.
