Romani, Felice (1788–1865)

Italian librettist and poet. His first libretti were for Simone Mayr (Medea in Corinto, 1813). He soon began a collaboration with Rossini and wrote Aureliano in Palmira and Il Turco in Musicia. For Gaetano Donizetti he wrote L'Elisir d'amore (1832) and Anna Bolena (1835). His most important work was for Bellini: Il Pirata (1827), I Capuleti (1830), La Sonnambula, Norma (1831), and Beatrice di Tenda (1833). His only libretto for Verdi was Un Giorno di Regno (1840).
