Romero, Mateo (c. 1575–1647)| Spanish singer, composer, and priest. He composed motets and other church music, as well as songs. |
| He joined the Flemish section of the royal chapel at Madrid in 1594; he was a pupil of Philippe Rogier, whom he succeeded as maestro de cappella in 1598. He was ordained priest in 1609 and retired with a pension in 1633, but was sent on a musical mission to Portugal in 1638. |
