Roocroft, Amanda (1966– )

English soprano. She studied at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester, appearing as Alcina and Fiordiligi there. She sang Strauss's Sophie with Welsh National Opera in 1990 and Pamina on her debut with Glyndebourne Touring Opera in 1990 and her debut at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden in 1991. In 1991 she returned to Glyndebourne as Fiordiligi (a role she repeated at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden in 1995) and in 1994 as Donna Elvira. She appeared with the English National Opera ensemble in 1993, as Ginevra in Ariodante. She is admired for the dramatic commitment of her performances.
