Rooley, Anthony (1944- )

English director and lutenist. He studied guitar at the Royal Academy of Music, London, and co-founded the Consort of Musicke in 1969. He often gives concerts and music theatre, and has given a staging of Vecchi's Le veglie di Siena in Copenhagen and London. He appeared at the London Promenade Concerts in 1988, with a setting of Tasso and undertook further concerts in Scandinavia and the USA. His recordings include the complete lute music of Dowland and Italian madigrals and other vocal items with soprano Emma Kirkby.
