Root, Gladys Towles (1905-1982)

US lawyer. Known for her attire - furs, feathers, oversized jewellery, towering hats with flashing lights - she practised law in California 1929-82. Her sex and murder cases were often dramatic.

She was born in Los Angeles, California. A biography was written of her titled Defender of the Damned 1964.
