Root, Waverley

Root, Waverley (Lewis) (1903–1982)

US journalist and author. He was a longtime Paris correspondent for newspapers such as the Chicago Tribune 1927–57 and the Washington Post 1957–69. With The Food of France 1958, he launched a second career as a food writer.

He was born in Providence, Rhode Island. His works include the international dictionary Food 1980.
