Rosamond

Opera by Thomas Arne (libretto by Joseph Addison), produced at the Theatre in Lincoln's Inn Fields, London, on 7 March 1733.

Opera by Clayton (libretto ditto), produced at the Drury Lane Theatre, London, on 4 March 1707. In the story, Queen Eleanor, wife of King Henry, discovers his mistress Rosamond and forces her to drink a bowl of poison. When Henry repents, she reveals the liquid was not lethal, and that Rosamond has become a nun.
